Sonny Trinidad began his professional career as Celso Trinidad, assisting Francisco V. Coching. Trinidad is the creator of the Filipino superhero 'El Gato', together with Mike Tan.

In the 1970s, he drew for some Marvel horror titles, like 'Dracula Lives!', 'Marvel Chillers' and 'The Son of Satan', as well as 'Deadly Hands of Kung Fu', 'Skull the Slayer', and 'The Savage Sword of Conan'. Around 1990, he was present on the Filipino market with contributions to the horror comic book Holiday (a.o. 'Zuriga').
