Pieter Aspe - 'Het Vierkant van de Wraak'.

Patrick Van Oppen was born in Genk. He has been drawing comics since his early childhood and began his professional career assisting Merho on the 'De Kiekeboes' album 'De Methode Matopeh'. In addition to several illustration assignments, he made his solo debut with the album 'Op Weg met Jan Berchmans' for Éditions Coccinelle. He then did commision albums like 'Schattenjacht in het Kleinste Stadje ter Wereld' for the city of Durbuy and 'De Vijfde Man' for the city of Brugge (2002).

For Standaard Uitgeverij, he illustrated two books of the comic series based on the work of novelist Pieter Aspe (2004-05). In 2007 he began the comic series 'Tommeke' with Ivan Claeys, about the younger years of cyclist Tom Boonen. The coloring was provided by Kurt Cassauwers

Van Oppen and Claeys also make 'Mr Nobody', a comic for P@per, the comic supplement of Brabant Strip Magazine. Since 2010, he is present in the Dutch magazine Eppo with the thriller comic 'De Vries', written by Sytse S. Algera.

He paid graphic homage to Pom in the collective tribute album 'Op Het Spoor van Pom' (2011).
