Ingrid Vang Nyman was a Danish illustrator, best known for illustrating Astrid Lindgren's famous 'Pippi Longstocking' books from 1945. She studied at the Academy of Art in Copenhagen, where she met her husband, painter and cartoonist Arne Nyman. After the dissolvement of her marriage, she moved with her son to Stockholm, where she began her career as a children's book illustrator. Besides the children's book, Vang Nyman also illustrated a comics version of 'Pippi Longstocking'. Ingrid Vang Nyman, who suffered from both physical illness and psychological complications, died tragically on 14 December 1959. Her son Peder Nyman also became an illustrator.
