Mampato, by Oscar Vega

The Chilean artist Oscar Vega has worked for both Chilean and foreign publications and advertising campaigns. Signing mostly with Oskar, he began his career at Editorial Zig Zag in 1962. In 1968, he took on creating comics for Editorial Lord Cochrane. In that year, he created the character of 'Mampato' with scriptwriter Eduardo Armstrong for the magazine of the same name. He was succeeded by Themo Lobos during the first episode. For the same magazine, Oskar made the comic 'Tantan'. He was also present in Pepe Antártico with 'Niñas'. In 1979, he began a collaboration with the daily El Mercurio. He also worked for the Icarito supplement of La Tercera de la Hora. In the 1980s, he mainly focused on advertising work.
