C. M. Vitankar is one of the artists who worked on the world-famous Amar Chitra Katha comic series. This series, edited and published by Anant Pai, re-tell the rich religious and folk stories of India in comic form. They are distributed world-wide and translated into many languages. C. M. Vitankar did the artwork on the stories 'Ganesha' (1975), 'Tales of Shiva' (1978), 'Arjuna, the Monkey and the Boy' (1979) and 'Karttikeya' (1981).
