Arjan Wilschut is a Dutch film maker and children's book author. Born in Dordrecht, he has worked as an illustrator and designer on commercials and Malmberg schoolbooks through the Comic House agency.
He has participated in the creation of films like 'Dada' by Piet Kroon and the multi-awardwinning 'Father and Daughter' by Michael Dudok de Wit in 2000. He has written, designed and directed his own films 'Shadows' (2002), 'Penguins Christmas' (2004), 'Hard boiled Chicken' (2006),'Farmer Jack' (2012) and 'Sola Powers in Deadly Drive-In Disaster 3D'. The latter was shown as a short before the Dutch theatrical screening of the 'James Bond' film 'Spectre'. He is the writer and illustrator of the children's book 'De Adelaar en de Koning'.
His comic strip 'De Apen en de Tuinman' was published in Groeneveld Magazine and P@per. Through crowdfunding, the Utrecht Opera Choir hired Wilschut to make a comic based on Giuseppe Verdi's opera 'I Lombardi', shown during a 2013 performance of the opera. A DVD with the opera was released in 2014.
