W. O. Wilson was an early 20th-century South African-American comic artist. He was born in 1867 in Natal, South Africa, and the creator of several newspaper strips. In 1904 he drew the Sunday strip 'The Richleigh Family'. It was followed by 'The Wish Twins and Aladdin's Lamp'. This strip ran until 1907 and combined the two main themes in comics of that time: children and fantasy. Wilson also created 'Madge the Magician's Daughter', another strip in this genre, which ran from 1905 until 1910.
W.O. Wilson died in 1950, at age 84.
