Robert Wuyts, originally born in former Belgian colony Congo, studied arts in Antwerp. After an internship at the 'Silberpfeil' production of Frank Sels, he got a job at Studio Vandersteen through his teacher Pierre van den Broeck in 1973. The same year he managed to get one of his comics published in the weekly amateur section 'Plant 'n Knol' of comic magazine Robbedoes (the Dutch-language version of Spirou). It ran in issue #1849 (13 September 1973). He briefly worked at Vandersteen's studio in Kalmthout, before he was assigned to work on the production of 'Bessy' stories for Germany in Antwerp. When the production of German 'Bessy' stories was cancelled, he mostly worked as an illustrator for educational publishing houses.
Wuyts also made the comic 'Cormack' for Robbedoes. Between 1993 and 1994, he produced three albums of the Africa series 'Scorpio' with scriptwriter Yaack, which were published by Standaard Uitgeverij. Also with Yaack, he made 'Safari-hotel' in Suske en Wiske Weekblad in 1994. Robert Wuyts has additionally worked on a cartoon series for TV Cinq, and as a teacher in painting and drawing.
