After a military service as a marine, Ferran Xalabarder trained to be an artist at Joso School, in Barcelona in 1987. As a result he started working as a freelance illustrator in 1989. Between 1991 and 1994 he did a comic strip for the weekly Montbui. Between 1993 and 1994 he contributed some illustrations and comics to publisher Planeta de Agostini.
During the following three years he worked on storyboards and character creation for animation films 'Titan A. E.' and 'Anastasia'. Since 1997 he wrote and drew such comics as the short tales he contributed to US magazine Heavy Metal and the graphic novels 'Born in Hell' (1999) and 'Salvaje' (2003). In 2007 Platinum Studios published 'NightFall', a graphic novel written by Scott O. Brown and drawn by Xalabarder.
