'Aybike'.
Ugurcan Yüce is a Turkish painter and illustrator. He picked up painting rather early on, doing portraits and oil paintings of the Sultans and war scenes of the Ottoman Empire. He studied decoration at the Mimar Sinan Academy, and later attended the Department of Stage and Performing Arts. Shortly after graduation, he had his comic story 'Aybike' published in the Hürriyet newspaper.
After his military service, Yüce opened an office in Istanbul, and started illustrating book covers and film posters. By 1980 he moved to Germany, where he began an association with Bastei Verlag. He illustrated a great many covers for their pulp series Gespenster Geschichten, Tony Ballard, Professor Zamorra and Damona King (more than 2000 in 25 years). Yüce is also known for his covers for 'Das Schwarze Auge' ('The Dark Eye'). Yüce unexpectedly passed away on 7 February 2015 in Stuttgart, Germany.
