Caboclo-d'aqua by Zezo

José Rivelli Neto, who worked under the name Zezo, began his career working for an advertising agency in 1953. Three years later, he started making comics for the publishing house La Selva. He illustrated western, romance and children's stories, but he specialized in terror stories (Contos de Terror, Sobrenatural, Pavor e Terror, Histórias de Terror). Zezo produced 20 to 30 pages a month and contributed to among others the 'Frankenstein' comic book (1960-61). He additionally worked for the publications of Editora Outubro and did book illustrations for Editora do Brasil. In 1961-62 he created the adventure comic 'O Tubarão Voador' and de science fiction series 'Rumo ao Infinito' for Jornal Juventil.

In 1963 he was employed in the propaganda department of Duratex, where he illustrated instruction booklets and folders. He also drew for the firm magazine Serrote, creating characters like 'Chico Minhoca', 'Bola Tudo' and 'Mutuca'. His latest work was the 'Rinoboy' feature, published in Duratex employee's paper. José Rivelli passed away in the late 1980s.
