Der Rhönpaulus by Helmut Zielke
'Der Rhönpaulus' (Atze, 1985).

Helmut Zielke was born in Berlin in 1938. He began an apprenticeship as cartographer in 1958. He was working as stage painter for the Eastern German Television since 1961. Zielke was a member of the Association of Fine Artists in the former GDR and has been working as freelance painter. From 1980 on and up to the time of the Fall of the Berlin Wall he participated in Mail Art projects with funny collages.

He also drew comic stories for East German children's magazines Atze and Frösi, such as 'Der Rhönpaulus' and 'Tschapajew' in the mid-1980s. In 1990 he became member of the Professional Association of Fine Artists (BBK). Zielke passed away in 2013.
