Born in Belgrade, Zdravko Zupan published his first comics in the Belgrade newspaper Mali Jez. In 1967 he became a regular contributor to Decje novine. Zupan's best known serials are 'Zuzuko' and 'Munja'. From 1983 to 1988 he worked with scriptwriter Lazar Odanovic on licensed 'Tom and Jerry' comics ('Tom i Dzeri'), based on Hanna-Barbera's famous cat-and-mouse duo. The stories were published in the Zagreb magazine Vjesnik. He then illustrated several 'Mickey Mouse' scripts by François Corteggiani for Le Journal de Mickey in France. He was founder of the fanzine Cepelin and an expert in the history of Serbian and Yugoslav comics. He has written articles for Comic Art, organized expositions and is author of several books about the subject. He died on 9 October 2015 in Belgrade.
