Mike Arens was a classic American Disney artist. Like many of the future comic artists, Arens started his career at Disney in the animation studios. He turned to comics in the early 1950s, doing funny animal, adventure and western strips for Dell Publishing.

Under the Disney label, Arens drew 'Davy Crockett', 'Mary Poppins', 'Chip 'n' 'Dale', 'Donald Duck' and 'Scamp'. Other Dell titles include 'Range Rider', 'Roy Rogers', 'The Frontiersman', 'Tarzan', 'Korak' and 'My Favourite Martian'.

Between 1969 until his death in 1976, Arens was the artist behind the daily 'Scamp' comic. His other newspaper comic credits include 'Hey Mac' (daily, 1951-1962) and 'Roy Rogers' (Sunday page, 1957-1962). He was also an animator at Hanna-Barbera.
