Nigel Auchterlounie is a cartoonist, model maker, toymaker and writer from Newcastle, who works through North Eastern Creative Powerhouse. He was born in 1971 in Bolton and became one of the most prominent artists and writers for the DC Thomson children's magazine The Dandy, from 2008 until the final edition in 2012. He has worked on a great many features, in the tradition of Leo Baxendale and John Reid, including 'The Bogies', 'Jibber & Steve', 'Professor Dandy's World of Facts', 'Corporal Clott' and 'Clive 5'.
'Doctor Who'.
After the disappearance of The Dandy, Achterlounie joined rival magazine The Beano. He is the writer of such features as 'Dennis the Menace & Gnasher', 'The Bash Street Kids' and 'Bananaman', and he has written and drawn 'Pup Parade' and 'The Numskulls'. He published his graphic novel 'Spleenal' with Blank Slate Books in 2009, and the follow-up, 'Megg', appeared in 2011.
