Anne Baltus began her career as an interior decorator, but soon turned to comics. She took courses at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels for three months. She then joined À Suivre magazine, doing several short stories. She illustrated 'Dolorès' in cooperation with her former teacher François Schuiten, and written by Benoît Peeters in 1991. Again with Peeters as her scenarist, she illustrated 'Calypso'.
