Rim Beckers is a Dutch cartoonist and comic artist, whose advertising comic strips have appeared in specialized magazines and weeklies in the Limburg region. Many of his cartoons tackle nature and dry humor, most notably his several contributions to magazine De Natuurgids.
Life and career
Rim Beckers was born in 1969 in Heerlen, a city in the southern Dutch province of Limburg. His interest in comics was largely influenced by classic series like Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny's 'Astérix', Hergé's 'Tintin', Francisco Ibáñez's 'Tom Tiger' and André Franquin's 'Gaston Lagaffe'. He received his artistic training in Graphic Design in Roermond, and was later educated as a draughtsman at the Grafische School Eindhoven. During this period, he made a large number of topical cartoons for the youth page of the regional newspaper Limburgs Dagblad.

After graduation, Beckers worked for a printing company in Heerlen, and subsequently took a training in general entrepreneurial skills. This allowed him to start his own design studio in Klimmen. For a while, he also took over a printing company in Sprang-Cappelle, in the province of North Brabant. By the time he returned to Limburg, he began working part-time as a visual marketing and communication employee with the Risse Group, a social work organization in Weert.

Cartoonist
In addition to his daytime job, Rim Beckers has been making illustrations and comics for various clients, most notably advertising strips for Limburg entrepreneurs. De Natuurgids, a special interest periodical about nature, environment and local history in Limburg, has regularly published his work. His contributions include the 1990s nature trivia feature 'In Vanalles en de Nogwat', the comic strip 'Frits' (2008), about a house rabbit, and 'Door Dierenogen' (2025- ), which gives a humorous look through the eyes of animals. In addition, Beckers has been creating 'LinkedIn Strips', a series of comics with caricatures telling stories by his LinkedIn connections.
A notable design by Rim Beckers was for the 'Mannetje Poep' statue in Weert. Made in collaboration with media designers Wesley Maduro and Marcel Van De Warenburg and the city of Weert, the slightly provocative statue depicts a crouching man defecating on the street, with his dog looking on in disappointment. Installed in May 2018, the cartoony statue has become a familiar sight in Weert.
