'Het Land der Gemaskerden'. 

Dane Wilson Beerling was born in 1934 in Tjimahi in the Dutch Indies (nowadays Indonesia) as the son of a Totok father and an Indonesian mother. He grew up in the Indies, and has lived and worked in the Netherlands since 1947. He was educated in advertising art, and now lives and works in Amsterdam as a fine artist, journalist and storyteller.

Beerling has made cartoons for Het Parool, Tussen de Rails and Panorama, and was the author of the comic books 'Het Land der Gemaskerden' (1973) and 'Black Days' (1978). He is the founder of the Indonesian workgroup Westcoast in 1989. He is known for his lectures in and about the Petjok language, and about Indonesian culture. Beerling publishes reviews and reports on his Tjabé Rawit website.
