Vincent van Gogh
Teun Berserik is a self-taught comics artist and illustrator. The son of art painter Hermanus Berserik, he initially worked with cars, specializing in antique models. Eventually turning to art, he has done extensive illustration work for schoolbooks by Wolters-Noordhoff, Thieme, Meulenhoff and Malmberg. Berserik made comics for magazines like Taptoe ('Geheimagent Pang'), Kuifje, Sjors & Sjimmie ('Cat Banda') and Autokampioen ('Joep Skoep & de Matchoo Methode', 'Buurman & Buurman'). He additionally illustrated educational comics for Autotechniek, De Bouw, TPG Post and DAF Trucks.
In 2012 he created a comic book about Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh in cooperation with the municipality of The Hague. The story dealt with Van Gogh's early efforts to establish himself as an artist, and was published by Oog & Blik. He subsequently started working on his next graphic novel, 'Oranje Orkest', about the Dutch resistence in the final months of World War II.
