Professor Pi, by Bob van den Born

Bob van den Born was educated to be a graphic teacher, but he liked making comics better than teaching. He started drawing the wordless one-panel gag comic, 'Professor Pi', which won him fame first in Holland and later beyond Dutch borders. At first, Professor Pi was a weekly feature, but the success was such that soon Van den Born decided to make it a daily. A special Dutch cultural prize was named after the professor.

In all, van den Born created a total of some 2,929 'Professor Pi' comics, many of which were shown at an exposition at Galerie Lambiek. Nowadays, van den Born is retired, and only occasionally draws a caricature for a newspaper or does some commercial work for clients like Madame Tussaud's wax museum.
