Marc Caro was born in Paris, France on 2 April 1956. During the 1970s, Caro published his comics in magazines like Métal Hurlant (Heavy Metal), Fluide Glacial, Charlie Mensuel and L'Écho des Savanes. He then participated in the influential Raw magazine by Art Spiegelman during the 1980s. At the time he was already involved in film making, with his friend Jean-Pierre Jeunet, which became more and more his field of work. He is also an actor, writer, set decorator and custome designer.
