Chad Carpenter learned the cartooning profession from artists like Dik Browne and Mike Peters in Sarasota, Florida. He returned to his home state Alaska and created the animal comic strip 'Tundra'. Carpenter's strip began publication in the Anchorage Daily News in 1991 and Carpenter now self-syndicates it to almost 350 newspapers throughout the USA. King Features additionally sells the strip to papers in Canada, Europe and even Jamaica and Trinidad. 'Tundra' has been collected in over 20 books and used on calendars, T-shirts, mouse pads, bumper stickers, etc.
