Henri Cassiers was a Belgian illustrator, printmaker and advertising artist. He studied to become an architect at the academies of Brussels and Sint-Joost-ten-Node. He specialized in maritime subjects as well as Flemish and Dutch village views with their typical costumes. He was an illustrator for magazines like De Vlaamsche Patriot, Le Globe Illustré, L'Illustration Européenne and Le National Illustré, and he also used sequential art. Cassiers illustrated books by Camille Mauclair and Cyriel Buysse and many advertisements for tourist attractions and shipping companies such as the Red Star Line.
