Born in Turnu Severin, Cristian Ciomu was the winner of a comic contest held by the magazines Cutezatorii and Pif Gadget in 1970. He published his first comic story in Cutezatorii two years later. He studied in Bucharest, then worked as an architect in Craïova and didn't return to comics until 1991. Since that year, his comic stories have made their appearances in magazines like Prichindel, Mini Azi and Haz în Vacanta. Ciomu is also a musician and composer (he has written a ballad about Hugo Pratt's 'Corto Maltese') and the author of several articles about the preservation of the Romanian architectural legacy.
