Valentin Cristescu was born in Bucharest, where he also studied at the Nicolae Tonitza School of Fine Arts. He made his debut in the pages of Universul Copiilor with the adventures of the turtle Clementina and the owl Bubu between 1990 and 1997. By 1994 he was also drawing for the supplement Mini Azi. His comic 'Clepsidra Fermecata' was published by Visual in 1995. He revived his Bubu character in Dino in 1997, and also in Pif Surprize, the Romanian version of Pif Gadget. Another comic by Cristescu is 'Cum a fost Salvat Titanicul' for Ziarul Copiilor.
In 2000 he published the sole issue of his own paper, called Ziarul Copiilor. New adventures of Bubu are published in the monthly Lumea Copiilor since 2003. Cristescu is also an illustrator, photographer and caricatures. Among his clients are Softwin, Gecad Net, Proiectul KDE - Linux, Ara, Star Group, Editura Erc Press and Coccinelle Magazin.
