Tony De Saulles is a British illustrator of children's books , who is based in Gloucestershire, England. Coming from a background in design and typography, he started out as a book designer and then he became an illustrator for children's books. He is best known for illustrating the 'Horrible Science' books by Nick Arnold, which are published by Scholastic since 1996. It is a spin-off of the 'Horrible Histories' series (originally written by Terry Deary and illustrated by Martin Brown) and just like that series provides a humorous look at science, focusing on the trivial, unusual, gory and unpleasant topics. 'Horrible Science' also inspired a succesful range of experimental kits from Galt Toys, as well as a theatre show from the Birmingham Stage Company and an ITV children's TV series.
