Todor Dinov was born in Aleksandropolis and he has lived and worked in Plovdiv and Sofia. He received his academic education at the Art University in Sofia, Bulgaria, and studied animation in Moscow. He is called the Father of Bulgarian animation and he has directed over 40 productions during his career, starting with 'Iunak Marko' in 1955. Dinov's movies came with international recognition, including ''Grumootvodut', 'Borovo klonche', 'Margaritka' and many others.

He has also worked as a caricaturist and children's book illustrator. Dinov published the independent comic book 'Malkoto Anche' containing many different mini-comic stories, partially published in Duga magazine. Among his students were the artists Donio Donev, Stoian Dukov and Radka Buhvarova.
