Space Dog, by Hendrik Dorgathen

Hendrik Dorgathen studied communication and design at the Gesamthochschule in Essen. His first work was 'Postcartoons' for the Rotbuch Verlag in 1989. he then made 'Präpostfluxoflex' for Carlsen in 1992, before embarking on 'Spacedog', a wordless comic that was also printed in England and France. In 1996, he illustrated 'Wal im Netz' by Svenn Böttcher. He is also active in animation, and he has taken apart in several exhibitions.

Dorgathen's images draw on comics as well as on art, TV and film, in a very clear, colorful style, that is reminiscent of American pop art. He uses famous cartoon figures in his work, especially George Herriman's 'Krazy Kat'. He is a teacher in art and design at the Kunsthochschule Kassel since 2003.
