Navarrito by Alberto Dose

Alberto Dose was an Argentine comic artist, who began his career in the late 1970s. He published his early work in the leading comic magazines of Argentina, including Cuero, Don, Súperhumor, Fierro and Skorpio. He has worked with Carlos Trillo on the heroic fantasy comic 'Polución Nocturna' for SúperHumor in 1980-81. Dose and Trillo continued their collaboration in Súperhumor with parody comics like 'Toh-Or' in 1982. He additionally created 'El Cimmarrón' with Ricardo Barreiro in Skorpio and 'Navarrito' with Guillermo Saccomanno in Fierro, as well as stories written by Eduardo Mazzitelli, Emilio Balcarce, Walter Slavich and Ricardo Ferrari.

He moved to Italy in the late 1980s, and eventually settled in the USA. In the early 2000s, he has been a cover artist for DC's 'The Flash', and a guest artist on Marvel's 'Spider-Man's Tangled Web'. Also for the US market, Dose has also worked on IDW titles like 'Desperadoes: Buffalo Dreams' (with Jeff Mariotte), 'Scarface: Devil in Disguise' (with Joshua Jabcuga) and 'Killing the Cobra', a graphic novel based on Mario Acevado's book 'The Nymphos of Rocky Flats'. Dose passed away after complications from heart surgery on 5 March 2016 in Burbank, California.
