Lothar Dräger was initially an opera singer. He gave up this profession in 1957, when he became scriptwriter and co-plotter for Hannes Hegen's Mosaik magazine. Dräger was responsible for the historical backgrounds of the stories, the texts and gags of the 'Digedags'. When Hegen departed from the magazine, Dräger developed the 'Abrafaxe' with artist Lona Rietschel. From then on, Dräger was art-director for Mosaik. He was also occupied with the scribbles and occasional illustration work. He retired in 1990.
