Joyas Literarias Juveniles #7 - Ben Hur
Juan Escandell was the artist of the 'Antarès' series, about a man-fish with superhuman powers. After a few episodes the comic got its own periodical. Escandell has also illustrated some comic adaptations for Bruguera's Historias Famosas collection ('Robinson Crusoe', 'Ivanhoe', Last of the Mohicans', etc.) and he has drawn for Capitan Trueno Extra in the 1960s. Together with writer Victor Mora, he produced 'Aventura en el Fondo del Mar' in 1965.
Escandell has also drawn for foreign publications. Through Britain, he has drawn the first episodes of the Dutch 'Horre, Harm en Hella' strip for the Toonder Studios in 1968-69 (scripts by Andries Brandt), which he signed S. Candell.
