Juan Espallardo started his career in the 1970s doing comics on assignment. For the English market, he illustrated among others the adventures of 'Tarzan' and 'Korak'. The editor of the La Verdad daily ordered Espallardo to draw some comics for the Libro del Verano daily.
Some didn't fit in, which led to publications in the Saturday pages of the daily. Among Espallardo's most famous creations are 'El Tremendo Tobi', 'Sickles y Toth', and 'Adena y Saro'.
