'Chouchou'.
Born in Grendelbruch, Alsace, Philippe Fix studied Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. He began his career with the comic 'Cykko et le talisman' in Bayard in 1960. He is best known as the creator of 'Chouchou', a character he first presented in Salut les Copains!. It had its own magazine from November 1964 to May 1965 and then appeared in a couple of 1965 issues of Pilote. 'Chouchou' appeared as a daily comic strip in France-Soir in October 1964.
Fix switched from comics to children's book and advertising illustration in the late 1960s. However, his character 'Chouchou' reappeared in the book 'Chouchou au Far West' (Hachette, 1966). Fix also made cover illustrations for collections like Folio Junior Légende of Éditions Gallimard.
