Sabrina Floria - also known as SaB Florio - is an Argentinean illustrator and comic artist, working for both national and international clients. Besides work for publishers like Editorial Planeta and Tinta Fresca Ediciones, she is a comic artist for the Dutch girls' magazine Penny.
Early life
Born in September 1983 in Buenos Aires, Sabrina Floria had a passion for drawing since her early childhood. Between 2001 and 2003, she studied at the Argentinean Comics School EAH (Escuela Argentina de Historieta), and subsequently attended the Faculty of Architecture, Drawing and Urbanism (FADU) at the University of Buenos Aires (2003-2010).
Artistic career
Floria has been working as a freelance illustrator since 2003. One of her first jobs was designing characters, objects and backgrounds for the online learning platform Aula365 of Telefónica's Internet access service Speedy. Since then, she has illustrated many children's picture books and school manuals, most notably for Editorial Producciones Mawis and Editorial Planeta, but also for Ediciones Urano, Editorial Pictus, Dauern S.A. and Quipu. Outside of Argentina, she illustrated manuals for the Puerto Rican publisher Ediciones SM, as well as Santillana from Paraguay.
'Humor de Pelos!' (2010).
With writer Luciano Saracino, she created 'Humor de Pelos!' (2010), a series of gag strips about hair fashion, made for the now-defunct website locasporelpelo.com.ar. With fashion designer Patricia Venuti she created and designed forest-inspired home objects under the label De Zorros y Mapaches (2013-2018). She additionally designed textile prints and embroideries for Urbanito, Taverniti and Seventy Jeans.
Penny magazine
Since 2011, Sabrina Floria has been one of the regular illustrators for Penny, a horse-themed magazine for girls, published by Holco Publications in the Netherlands. She makes the drawings for the section 'BPV 4-ever' (2011-2015), which follows the everyday life of horse fan Lein in both diary and comic strip format. In addition, she illustrated the comic feature about 'Bibi & Bo' (2013-2015). In the 2020s, she made illustrated versions of the earlier photo comic series 'Duinmanege', written by Frank Jonker.
