Ella Cinders by Fred Fox

Fred Fox was an American writer and cartoonist., born as Frederick Louis Fox in New York. He was involved in the creation of Charlie Plumb's 'Ella Cinders' strip for the Metropolitan Newspaper Service since the 1920s. He took over the writing of the strip anonymously in 1940 and assumed complete control between 1945 and 1961, leaving the artwork during the final year of his tenure to Roger Armstrong.

Fox was also an artist for the newspaper cartoon feature 'Good Time Guy' by 'Ella Cinders' writer Bill Conselman in 1929. He was ghostwriter for Merrill Blosser's 'Freckles and his Friends' for 30 years, and co-creator of 'Odd Bodkins' with Chase Craig in 1941. Fred Fox was also a writer for radio, TV and motion pictures, and served as a gag writer for entertainers like Groucho Marx and Judy Canova.
