Marianne Frimberger was born in 1877 in Mährisch-Ostrau as the daughter of writer Johann Georg Frimberger (1851-1919). She studied at the Vienna art school under Felician Myrbach and in Vienna under Heinrich Knirr. Living and working in Vienna, she was mainly active as an illustrator of children's books. For the children's magazine Der Schmetterling of Verlag Steinsberg, she made the comic 'Die Fünf Negerlein' in 1927. Together with artist Adelheid Malecki, she founded a private painting school for women and children in 1906. She died in 1965.
