Dumont d'Urville, by Gal
'Dumont D'Urville' (script by Jean-Michel Charlier, Pistolin, issue #2, February 1955).

Georges Langlais, who signed with Gal, worked as an artist of mainly historical comics in the 1950s. He should not be confused with Belgian political cartoonist Gal (1940) (pseudonym of Gerard Alsteens).

He was one of the main illustrators of the series 'Les Grands Noms de l'Histoire de France' in the magazine Pistolin between 1955 and 1958 (scripts by Jean-Michel Charlier). He also drew several stories in the series 'Les Belles Histoires de l'Oncle Paul' with scripts by Octave Joly in Spirou, as well as the series 'Brazza le Conquérant' in L'Intrépide. He also did contributions to 'L'Histoire Vivante', a series of historical stories published in Bonnes Soirées.
