Jan Green is an American female newspaper comic artist, best known for her syndicated gag series 'Hey Swingy', also known as 'Julie' (1964-1970). She was also a cartoonist for Teen Magazine.
Hey Swingy
Not much is known about the life of the cartoonist Jan Green. In a press article announcing the publication of her signature comic 'Hey Swingy', she is described as the "mother of two daughters". 'Hey Swingy', her strip about the "zany and laughable antics of a typical teenage girl" was syndicated by General Features from 26 October 1964 until 1970. That year, the American newspaper feature secretly went into reruns. When readers started to complain, the syndicate stated that Green was "ill". 'Hey Swingy' disappeared from circulation shortly afterwards. The Stripper's Guide blog cites 17 April 1971 as the most likely cancellation date. In 1970-1971, the comic strip also ran in French under the title 'Julie' in the Québecian newspaper La Presse.

Animation career
In addition to her comic strip, Jan Green produced stories and designs for films and TV shows, as well as other commercial enterprises. According to her comic strip's 1964 promotional flyer, her "sure touch at the drawing board and knack for capturing the essence of humor have earned her the annual award of the American Institute of Graphic Arts".
From the 1970s until deep in the 1990s, she provided storyboard art and story direction for various animated TV series. Green's credits include Disney TV series like 'Quack Pack', 'Aladdin', 'Bonkers', 'Goof Troop', 'Darkwing Duck', 'The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh' and 'DuckTales', as well as Hanna-Barbera's 'Paw Paws', 'The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries', 'Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo', 'The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show', 'The Ri¢hie Ri¢h/Scooby-Doo Show', 'The Biskitts', 'Jeannie', 'The Kwicky Koala Show', 'Challenge of the Superfriends' and 'The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan', DePatie Freleng's 'Return to the Planet of the Apes', 'Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends' and 'What's New, Mr. Magoo?' and shows like 'Fantastic Voyage' (Filmation), 'Alvin & the Chipmunks' (Ruby-Spears Productions) and 'G.I.
