'Dirkje Dop' (De Engelbewaarder, 1936). 

Leonardus Engelbertus van Grinsven was born in 1912 in Den Bosch and educated at the Tilburg Art Academy. He was one of the illustrators for the Catholic magazine De Engelbewaarder. In the 1930s, he drew comics like 'Dirkje Drop', 'Tante Leida Pannelat' and 'Steven Sterkenarm', all written by Jos. van den Bosch.

Between 1938 and 1941, three book collections were published by R.K. Jongensweeshuis in Tilburg, 'Avonturen van Tante Leida Pannelat', 'Steven Sterkenarm', and 'Steven Sterkenarm en Bram de Boef'. After World War II, Van Grinsven illustrated three 'Puk en Muk' stories by Frans Franssen, a series previously drawn by the Austrian illustrator Carl Storch.
