Richard Hambach spent most of his life in the DDR (German Democratic Republic), the communist part of Germany. He started his career working as a decorator, and later became an artist for magazines, such as Junger Pionier, Bummi, Trommel, Frösi and Atze. Apart from games and illustrations, he also created comics, like 'Mäxchen Pfiffig', 'Tüte', 'Brandschutzfibel', 'Pinguin Patt', 'Bienchen Käti', 'Hase Grobschwanz' and the educational 'Kundi'.
