Thijs Hannaart is a Dutch biology teacher and former comic artist. He has written several books about social-psychological and neurological phenomena.
Life and career
Hannaart studied Medical Microbiology, specializing in molecular biology. Since graduation, he has worked as a biology teacher at a secondary school. In addition, he has written entertaining books about the brain, such as 'Pimp Je brein' (Scriptum, 2010), 'Man Zoekt Vrouw, Vrouw Zoekt Man' (Scriptum, 2011) and 'Kies mij - Wat je van politici kunt leren als je meer invloed wilt hebben' (Haystack, 2016).
Comics
During the 2010s, he used his spare time to create comics, which he published on his own website and on the Stripster comics portal. In 2013, André Wijntjes published a collection of his 'Meneer Hannaart' gag strip under his Kippenvel imprint. Together with writer Ivan Claeys, he made the comic strip 'De Conquistadores' (2011) in P@per, the companion comic magazine to Brabant Strip Magazine. Thijs Hannaart has also participated in the collective Stripster comic projects 'Onder de Kleuren van de Nacht' (2010) and 'Genadeloos' (2015), which were also released in book format.
