A self-taught artist, Eric Hérenguel made his debut in comics with a series of short stories for magazine Tintin in cooperation with writer Jean-Pierre Croquet. He worked in advertising, before he created the futuristic thriller 'Carnivores' with Jean Wacquet in two books for Editions Zenda in 1991 and 1992. He then succeeded Laurent Vicomte on the series 'La Balade au Bout du Monde' at Glénat, illustrating the second cycle from scripts by Makyo (1992-95).

With scriptwriter Dieter, he created 'Les Mémoires d'Edward John Trelawnay', a science fiction and heroic fantasy series published by Delcourt between 1997 and 1999. In 1999, Hérenguel created the more humorous heroic fantasy series 'Krän le Barbare' for the publishing house Vents d'Ouest.

Hérenguel wrote and drew nine books of this cult series until 2009, when he handed over art duties to Pierre Loyvet. Loyvet had also done the art of the spin-off series 'Krän Univers', that Hérenguel had started in 2006.

Hérenguel also showed capable in handling the western genre, releasing two books of the western fantasy series 'Lune d'Argent sur Providence' with Vents d'Ouest in 2005 and 2008. By 2008 he teamed up with Scotch Arleston for the diptych 'Nuit Safran' in the collectin 'Légendes de Troy'. Hérenguel assumed script duties for the 'Remmington' series at Ankama Éditions, working with artists like Kim Dae Jin and Julen Ribas.
