Joop Hillenius studied at the Rietveld Academie. He worked for the Toonder studios from 1947 to 1958, where he was the artist of the 'Kappie' newspaper strip. He has also worked on other Toonder series like 'Olle Kapoen', 'Panda' and 'Tom Poes'.
