Johan Höjer began his career in the comics group Comix Nostra with Ulf Frödin in the early 1970s. Together with Frödin, he made the album 'Näst Sista Striden' (1973) about the French student revolution of May 1968 . He is best known for his series 'Svenna Gurka', published in Dagens Nyheter, Galago and 91:an. The series was originally called '34:an' but eventually it was named after the protagonist. Höjer was also one of the original artists for Mammut magazine in the early 1980s and has produced the album 'Snövita Stålar', as well as the series 'Historie-förbättraren' with Mikael Grahn in Dagens Nyheter.
