Jan Pieter Holswilder was a Dutch illustrator, painter and lithographer. Born in Leiden, he started out as an office clerk, before turning to teaching and eventually becoming a lithographer with the Lankhout firm in The Hague. He was well-known for his caricatures, and he was one of the first in the Netherlands to use the comics format. He was the artist of a picture story about unlucky number 13, that was published in Humoristisch Album in 1887-88. Holswilder is also known from his panorama drawing of Scheveningen from around 1890.
