Tom Hubble was born in Adelaide, Australia in 1903. He studied at the Julian Ashton Art School and became an all-round artist, producing portraits, commercial art, comics and even working as a camoufler, camouflaging aerodromes during World War II.
Comic titles he produced since the 1940s include 'Dr. Mensana', 'Detective's Diary', 'Black Vulture', 'Desert-Dragon' and 'Raybot', signing his work with "Hub". Most of his work was science fiction. 'Dr. Mensana' was the first Australian comic book superhero.
