1980 strip of 'Nancy', most likely drawn by Will Johnson.

Will Johnson is an American cartoonist, known as one of the later assistants who worked with Ernie Bushmiller on the daily 'Nancy' strip.

Nancy
Very little is known about Will Johnson's life and career. During at least the 1970s and early 1980s, he worked with the veteran cartoonist Ernie Bushmiller on his daily newspaper gag comic about the little girl, 'Nancy'. It is unknown when his tenure began, but in a 22 June 1980 article in the Wichita Falls Times, Johnson was named Bushmiller "long-time assistant". When in the late 1970s Ernie Bushmiller was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, he had to hand over all of the art duties to his assistants. Al Plastino was assigned to the Sunday comics, and Johnson took care of the dailies, while Bushmiller remained involved as writer. Will Johnson's work on 'Nancy' presumably ended with Ernie Bushmiller's death on 15 August 1982. By then, the daily feature was continued by another Bushmiller's former editor at United Feature Syndicate, Mark Lasky.
