Jan Jutte studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem. He graduated in painting and drawing in 1980. He is a freelance illustrator since 1983. Jutte has illustrated books by Annie M.G. Schmidt ('Het Beertje Pippeloentje'), Guus Kuijer ('Tin Toeval en de Kunst van het Verdwalen'), Rindert Kromhout ('Peppino'), Marritgen Matter ('Schaap met Laarsjes') and Sjoerd Kuyper ('Een Muts voor de Maan').
Tien Stoute Katjes
The children's book 'Tien Stoute Katjes', which he made with Mensje van Keulen, has appeared as a comic in NRC Handelsblad. He contributed tot the Zwijsen children's magazine Maan Roos Vis. Jutte has additionally drawn a comic for The New Yorker and he illustrated a picture book for the Penguin Group. Jutte has also worked as a drawing and art history teacher in Zetten between 1984 and 2000, and as an illustration teacher in Arnhem.
