Kathi Käppel lives and works as a comic artist in Berlin. Together with Jens Harder, Tim Dinter, Ulli Lust, Mawil and Kai Pfeiffer, she founded the Berlin comic group Monogatari. As students of Communication Design at the Fachhochschule Weißensee, they joined together to discover new narrative forms in words and pictures. In 2001, they published 'Alltagsspionage', their comic debut in which each artist designed a comic reportage from Berlin. Käppel also produces flash-animations and video clips with TrickFilmlounge; in 2001 she won the Flash-Award.
