Rick Kirkman started his comics career freelancing for several magazines and commercial clients. His illustrations and cartoons appeared in Saturday Evening Post, Saturday Review, Good Housekeeping, Parents Magazine, Money, Children's Television Workshop and Redbook. He met Jerry Scott in the early 1980s and they teamed up on the newspaper strip 'Baby Blues', that was inspired by the birth of Rick Kirkman's second child. The strip started in 1990 and has been syndicated by Creators Syndicate to newspapers all over the world.
